What is allowed in a Domain Name? 
The only characters allowed in a Domain Name are the 26 letters of the standard alphabet, numbers 0-9, and hyphens (-). A Domain cannot begin or end with a hyphen, but it can contain a hyphen. The governing body for Domain Name registration is currently allowing up to 67 characters in including the co.za, .com, .net, or .org.

What if the name I want is not available?
If a Domain Name is not available you cannot register the Domain Name. In many cases the Domain Name is under contract even if it appears to be available.

No, if a Domain Name is not available you cannot register the Domain Name. In many cases the Domain Name is under contract even if it appears to be available. 

Who owns my Domain Name? 
The organization or the person listed in the "Whois" as the Registrant is considered the owner for the length of the contract period. When registering through Ehost we register you as "Registrant" and the domain belongs to you.

Where will my Domain Name reside? 
Your Domain Name will be registered to reside on Ehost's Domain Name Servers. 

May I register my Domain Name using different name servers? 
Yes, you can supply your own name servers when registering a domain name.

I made a mistake in spelling my Domain Name how do I correct it? 
If you have misspelled your Domain Name you will need to submit a new registration. Once your new name is registered you may find it useful to point the misspelled name to the corrected name to ensure that you receive the maximum visitors to your site, especially if this is a common misspelling. 

May I cancel my Domain Name? 
Yes, you will receive notices regarding the renewal of your domain name. You can simply ignore these notices should you do not wish to renew the domain name.
You will NOT receive a refund if you choose to cancel your Domain Name.

How Can I Transfer An Existing Domain Name?
When signing up for your Ehost.co.za account you’ll be asked whether you wish to transfer an existing domain name. Enter your domain name in the box that appears and click on the checkbox that says 'Transfer domain'.

When all your details has been submitted we will contact you with all the necessary info such as our name server addresses.

Note: It typically takes 24-72 hours for domains to be transferred by your domain registrar. Therefore, please allow the allotted time. 

How does the Closed Redemption Period work for .co.za domain names?
Closed Redemption is a state that a domain enters once it has expired and gone through the Deletion Phase. The Closed Redemption Phase lasts a total of 20 consecutive days from the end of the Pending Deletion Phase, and is terminated if the domain is reinstated. The process is as follows:

If the domain expire, it will go through the Pending Suspension and Pending Deletion Phases. After the Pending Deletion phase is over, the domain enters the Closed Redemption Phase. In the Closed Redemption Phase a domain can be reinstated at the cost of the Closed Redemption Fee of R228.00 incl. VAT. If a domain is not reinstated in the Closed Redemption Phase, it will be deleted at the end of the phase.
